Due to the high weight and great length, it was necessary to transport this self-propelled gun supported by traversing pedestals mounted on two five-axle rail carriages. Supporting arms, attached to the Geraet 040, were lifted by massive hydraulic cylinders to suspend the self-propelled gun between the rail carriages.
